Fridays for future, Ende Gelände e Greenpeace manifestano contro l’estrazione del carbone

Nella miniera a cielo aperto più grande d’Europa, la “Rheinisches Revier”, nella Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia, vicino a Erkelenz, le organizzazioni contro il cambiamento climatico hanno annunciato che protesteranno nel fine settimana dal 19 al 24 giugno. “Ende Gelände”, Fridays for future e Greenpeace si aspettano che migliaia di persone partecipino per manifestare contro l’estrazione di carbone a cielo aperto e il trasferimento di interi villaggi. L’uso continuato del carbone come combustibile fossile fino al 2038 è insostenibile per molti attivisti e uno dei temi principali di discussione quest’anno.

All’inizio, la polizia era preoccupata per le escalation, specialmente in relazione agli studenti che manifestavano con i Fridays for future. Avevano anche paura di attività illegali e violente.

Si prevede di bloccare i binari ferroviari che portano alla miniera e fermare la produzione e la spedizione. Il programma dei manifestanti con i Fridays for future è di marciare attraverso la vicina Aquisgrana e poi unirsi a una grande manifestazione chiamata “Alle Dörfer bleiben” (“Tutti i villaggi restano”) prima di unirsi a “Ende Gelände” alla periferia della zona. Greenpeace ha anche annunciato che si uniranno a questa manifestazione.

Ci sono diversi punti di vista sulla fine dell’uso del carbone: “Ende Gelände” vuole l’arresto immediato dell’estrazione mineraria, mentre i Fridays for future pensano che il 2030 sia un obiettivo realistico – ma dal momento che tutti stanno combattendo per la stessa cosa, sono solidamente uniti.

In Europe’s largest open pit mine, the “Rheinisches Revier“, in North-Rhine Westphalia, near Erkelenz, organisations against climate changed announced they would be protesting on the weekend from 19th to 24th of June. “Ende Gelände”, Fridays-For-Future and Greenpeace are expecting thousands of people to take part to demonstrate the open pit coal mining and also the relocation of entire villages. The continued usage of coal as a fossil fuel until 2038 is untenable for many activists and one of the main topics this year.

Early on, police were worried about escalations, especially in connection to students demonstrating with Fridays-For-Future. They were also afraid of illegal and violent activities.

It is planned to block the rail tracks leading to the mine and stop production and shipping. Demonstrators with Fridays-For-Future plan to march through nearby Aachen and then later join a large rally called “Alle Dörfer bleiben” (“All villages stay”) before joining “Ende Gelände on the outskirts of the area. Greenpeace had also announced they would join this demonstration.

There are different views on the end of coal usage – “Ende Gelände” want an immediate stop of the mining, while Fridays-For-Future think 2030 a realistic goal – but since all are fighting for the same thing, they are solidly united.

In Europas‘ größtem Braunkohlerevier, dem sogenannten Rheinischen Revier in Nordrhein-Westfalen, nahe Erkelenz, haben sich für das Wochenende vom 21.6. bis 23.6. Protestaktionen und Demonstrationen angekündigt. Tausende Menschen, von den Organisationen Ende Gelände, Fridays-For-Future und Greenpeace, werden erwartet, um gegen den dortigen Braunkohltageabbau und auch die damit verbundene Enteignung und Umsiedlung ganzer Dörfer zu demonstrieren. Der geplante Kohlausstieg für 2038, ein unhaltbares Ziel für viele Aktivisten und Aktivistinnen, ist eines der Hauptthemen dieses Jahr.

Bereits im Vorfeld hatte die Polizei vor einer Eskaltation der Situation gewarnt, besonders mit Bedacht auf die Schüler und Schülerinnen, die mit der Fridays-for-Future Bewegung teilnehmen wollen. Man habe Angst vor illegalen und gewalttätigen Aktionen.

Geplant hat die Aktion „Ende Gelände“, die Bahngleise hin zum Braunkohleabbau zu besetzen und somit den Braunkohleverkehr lahm zu legen. Die Demonstranten von Fridays-For-Future wollen zunächst durch Aachen marschieren und dann zu einer Großkundgebung „Alle Dörfer bleiben“ marschieren. Später wollen sie sich dann den Demonstrationen am Rande des Tagebaus anschließen. Greenpeace hatte ebenfalls angekündigt an dieser Demonstration teilzunehmen.

Unter den demonstrierenden Organisationen gibt es zwar unterschiedliche Auffassungen, wann der Kohlausstieg vollzogen werden soll – Ende Gelände beispielsweise demonstriert für einen sofortigen Ausstieg, während Fridays-For-Future einen Ausstieg im Jahr 2030 als realistisch betrachten – aber da man für die gleiche Sache kämpfe, würde man sich solidarisch gegenüber einander verhalten.
